How can therapy help you?
Benefits of therapy depend on your commitment and level of readiness. Some benefits can include, boosting self confidence or improving self esteem, improving communication skills, learning/finding new coping skills, attaining a better understanding of yourself, changing old patterns and developing new ones, or managing your emotional feeling such as sadness, anger or other highly charged emotions you may be feeling.
What theoretical approach do I use?
I use eclectic approach in therapy sessions. With more than 10 years of my experience I find Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Psychoanalysis, Existential Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour therapy, Trauma Focused therapy, and Mindfulness techniques are often helpful for my clients.
What does a first session look like?
The session starts with you sharing your story, talking about your goals and what would you like to change. I also help you recognize the root cause of the problem and together we establish the journey plan. The first session is also important in helping you to decide if I am the right professional who can help with your concerns and we will established the goals of the therapy in the initial session itself.
How long is a therapy session?
Therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes, while groups run longer per session. Clients typically meet on a weekly or bi weekly basis depending on the client’s needs. Length of time while in therapy will depend on the individual client’s circumstance. The therapist and client will determine that together.
What is the cancellation policy?
I require 24 hours notice of cancellation or you will need to pay for the appointment. An occasional exception may be made in the case of an emergency. It’s important that we meet consistently in order to make progress.
